About this Project
This backyard started as an open patch of grass with little definition or function. The homeowners wanted a comfortable outdoor space that could handle both quiet mornings and relaxed gatherings with friends. The goal was to bring structure and modern style to the space while keeping it casual and welcoming.
A sleek steel pergola now defines the main entertaining area, providing shade and a sense of enclosure without blocking light. Beneath it, a contemporary dining setup sits beside woven lounge chairs and a custom concrete fountain that adds gentle movement and sound.
A built-in wood and steel bench extends from the deck, blending seamlessly with the architecture of the home. Warm LED lighting tucked under the steps adds depth and visibility after dark, creating a soft, inviting glow that highlights every material detail.
Surrounding plantings of ornamental grasses and low evergreens bring life to the linear layout, softening the hardscape and connecting it back to the natural hillside beyond. The result is a versatile retreat that feels both refined and relaxed, perfectly suited for modern outdoor living.
