Mountain View Retreat
On this project, we transformed a steep, rugged hillside into a layered outdoor sanctuary that feels rooted in its surroundings. Natural stone, reclaimed timber, and native plantings come together to create a peaceful retreat that blends seamlessly with the mountain terrain.

About this Project
Perched above sweeping foothill views, this property called for a design that would enhance its natural beauty rather than compete with it. Every element was shaped to follow the contours of the land, creating a series of connected spaces that feel grounded and elevated.
Timber steps and steel accents guide movement through the slope, each landing softened by resilient mountain plants chosen for texture and seasonal color. The flagstone patio anchors the design, forming a quiet platform for dining, conversation, and reflection.
A sculptural fire feature and solid timber bench invite guests to linger as the evening light fades over the hills. Nearby, a simple stone fountain adds the sound of moving water, balancing the warmth of fire with a sense of calm.
As night falls, the lighting reveals the craftsmanship in every surface. Soft uplighting traces the natural rock walls and plant forms, creating depth without distraction. The result is a landscape that feels like it has always belonged here; a seamless connection between the home and the wild terrain that surrounds it.
