Our Favorite Colorado Perennials for Spring Planting

As the snow melts, and the temperature rises, it’s time to think about your garden. If you’re looking for a few great perennials to add to your garden this season, look no further than Colorado! We are here to provide you with our top picks when it comes to perennials that will thrive in Colorado weather. Read on to find out which plants we recommend for planting in your garden this spring.

Foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia)

Foamflower is the perfect plant for shady gardens—it thrives in moist, woodland settings and produces delicate white blooms from late spring into early summer. This perennial is a low-maintenance groundcover that can tolerate a variety of soils and light conditions. Foamflower also provides a beautiful backdrop of foliage throughout the year with its mottled green leaves.

Lupine (Lupinus spp.)

Lupines are versatile perennials that come in many sizes and colors, making them perfect additions to any garden. They produce tall spikes of flowers in shades of blue, purple, yellow, white, and pink from early spring until mid-summer. Lupines prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade as well as dry or moist soil conditions. Be sure to deadhead spent flowers regularly for continuous bloom throughout the season!

Columbine (Aquilegia spp.)

These delicate flowers have become one of the most popular choices for Colorado gardens due to their unique shape and bright colors. Columbine blooms in shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and white from late spring through early summer. They require little maintenance other than plenty of sunshine and regular watering. Deadheading spent blooms will encourage further flowering throughout the season!

Colorado is home to many beautiful perennials that thrive in our climate! From foamflowers for shady areas to lupines for sunny spots and columbines for colorful accents – there’s something out there for everyone! So get out there and start planting – we guarantee these perennials will be an asset to your garden this spring!
